KRISTIE SMITH is a professional musician based in Las Vegas, with a strong background in both teaching and performing music. She has over fifteen years of professional experience teaching music lessons to students of all ages and levels.
Kristie worked as an accompanist and coach for vocalists and instrumentalists at Indiana University for their lessons, juries, and recitals. She earned rave reviews from many of the world-famous teachers at this prestigious music school.
While in Indiana, Kristie also played the piano for the praise and worship portion of the weekly church services at Lighthouse Community Church. She helped to rehearse and prepare the choir at weekly rehearsals. This position required her to play by ear and to improvise, so Kristie is comfortable teaching improvisation and playing from lead sheets.
Kristie graduated summa cum laude and with Honors with a Bachelor of Music in harp and piano performance from the University of Arizona in 2004, where she studied with Dr. Paula Fan, Regents Professor of Piano and principal pianist of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. Kristie was honored as the Outstanding Senior of her undergraduate class. She is now a doctoral candidate at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.
Beyond her musical activities, Kristie loves working out, reading fantasy novels, and hanging out with her collie, cat, and ferret. But most importantly, she has a baby! Kristie's daughter Katerina was born in August of 2016. Katerina loves music and singing! Kristie's husband Abe is a lawyer. Her mother, Kathy Withers, runs a fiber arts business in Maryland.
Kristie offers private lessons in Las Vegas. She is available for concerts and master-classes as well as for weddings, special events, and business functions. For more information, please contact her at 702-575-2793 or by email.
